The XG1™ provides the reliable radio communications that are essential to the operations of all water and electrical utilities. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, which depend on unfaltering communications, allow utilities to effectively monitor and control widespread operations like power substations and transmission lines, water pump stations, main pressures, reservoirs and storage tanks, all from a single location.

Adapt4's XG1 offers numerous benefits for the utility operator.

  • Dynamic Frequency Selection - The XG1 network searches the bandwidth for available frequencies, resulting in clear, interference-free communications even in the busiest, urban communities. Unlike spread spectrum, network owners have the protection of an FCC-issued license to reduce interference effects.
  • Interference avoidance - Users can be assured of interference-free operations, regardless of crowded airwaves. The XG1 network maintains a table of available, frequencies, using only those that are currently idle. The instant a licensed primary user -- or even an unlicensed rogue transmitter -- becomes active, that frequency is removed from the list of available channels and is avoided until it once again becomes dormant.
  • Easy setup, minimal management - Adapt4's radio systems employ automatic configuration and do not require human interaction to implement its cognitive capabilities. The uncomplicated setup features a simplified installment process, minimal management requirements and, once installed, the transceivers perform all adjustments automatically. An "over-the-air" network management channel allows the user to implement software upgrades and modifications and track communication statistics without having to visit individual transmitter sites.
  • Superior communications characteristics - Using ASAP (Automatic Spectral Adaptation Protocol) technology, Adapt4 has reintroduced the availability of lower frequency bands that have long been inefficiently used. Currently operating in the 217 - 220 MHz bandwidth, the XG1 takes advantage of the vastly superior RF characteristics of the spectrum below 1 GHz. Unlike higher bands, XG1 radios have robust transmit attributes that are nearly immune to changing atmospheric conditions, evolving urban skylines, heavy foliage, rough terrain and other conditions that can diminish the effectiveness of higher frequency transceivers. In addition, XG1 radios do not require line-of-sight antenna height requirements that hamper higher band users.
  • Video security features - Since their operations often cover widespread areas, utilities have unique security concerns. The XG1 throughput capabilities make them ideal for transmitting frame video, offering the network owner on-site observation ability at multiple remote sites simultaneously. The radios use as many as 45, 6.25 kHz frequencies concurrently, producing an excellent throughput rate.
  • Flexible interfaces - The XG1 network offers an Ethernet and two serial interfaces. The radios are compatible with most standard networking products and serial devices used for remote monitoring and control purposes. Simple interfaces to network cameras and phones as well as most remote instrumentation are built-in.

Adapt4's XG1 provides the interference-free, wireless solutions needed for continuous SCADA communications at critical times, helping to guarantee efficient operations, and non-interrupted service for utility customers.
